Governor DeSantis held a press conference on 6/11/2020, during which he stated that Florida Schools will be opening in August at “full capacity”. How that is accomplished will be left to individual districts to determine.
One thing that is clear is that reopening schools with necessary changes for the health and safety of our students and employees will require funding. Currently a stabilization funding bill, Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act, is now under consideration in the Senate. This Act includes at least $100 billion for public K-12 education and public colleges and universities to safely reopen and account for the unanticipated increased costs of operating schools in a COVID-19 environment.

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO CONTACT YOUR SENATOR and tell them to fund state and local governments. Talking points and directions on how to contact your Senator can be found at this link and in the flyer.
